Why can't I build, please help.

Vimal Kansal
Hi,

I have checked out the latest code and while building it on my Windows 7
m/c(Java 1..6.27, 64 bit), the build fails with the following error :

[ERROR] Failed to execute goal
org.codehaus.mojo:javacc-maven-plugin:2.3-jboss-1:jjtree
(jjtree-jbossql) on project jboss-as-cmp: Execution jjtree-jbossql of
goal org.codehaus.mojo:javacc-maven-plugin
:2.3-jboss-1:jjtree failed: basedir
C:\vkk\JBoss-AS7\jboss-as\cmp\C:\vkk\JBoss-AS7\jboss-as\cmp\src\main\jjtree
does not exist -> [Help 1]
[ERROR]
[ERROR] To see the full stack trace of the errors, re-run Maven with the
-e switch.
[ERROR] Re-run Maven using the -X switch to enable full debug logging.
[ERROR]
[ERROR] For more information about the errors and possible solutions,
please read the following articles:
[ERROR] [Help 1]
http://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/MAVEN/PluginExecutionException
[ERROR]
[ERROR] After correcting the problems, you can resume the build with the
command
[ERROR]   mvn <goals> -rf :jboss-as-cmp
C:\vkk\JBoss-AS7\jboss-as>

I am not sure why the base dir is being picked up as :

basedir
C:\vkk\JBoss-AS7\jboss-as\cmp\C:\vkk\JBoss-AS7\jboss-as\cmp\src\main\jjtree

it should be

basedir C:\vkk\JBoss-AS7\jboss-as\cmp\src\main\jjtree

Can somebody please help.

Thx

Vimal

Re: Why can't I build, please help.

Vimal Kansal
I have now tried everything :

(1) Blew away my local maven repository, build still fails.

(2) Blew away my github fork, created new fork and cloned it, built it
and it still fails with same rror.

Can somebody please help.

Thx

Vimal

Re: Why can't I build, please help.

David Lloyd-2
We determined that this is due to different javacc plugin and dependency
versions.  A fix is being worked on, last I heard.

Thx David. Any idea when can we expect this fix?

Re: Why can't I build, please help.

Vimal Kansal
David,

I looked at the commit logs and find the following on 21st of Oct :

============================================================================
commit 2efc25bbf5e899ee6351dc5f0f5fee39bc7d87c6
Author: kabir [hidden email]
Date:   Fri Oct 21 16:23:29 2011 +0100

Revert "Exclude cmp from build since it does not build"

    This reverts commit 5c9db4c0188f0492b91f6786340e9261eec3db09.

commit a865280cb9b41e3d9bd821591f0cbbddba7ccd37
=============================================================================

That, to me indicates that "exclusion of cmp from build" was reverted because inclusion of "cmp" no longer was breaking the build. But I am finding that on my Windows 7 machine it is still breaking the build.

Btw, is there anyway I can keep downloading the AS 7.1.0 as built by Jenkins, rather than building it on my local machine ?

Thx

Vimal

Just curious, in the link it refers the version as 7.0.x and not as
7.1.0. Will it still download the 7.1.0-ALPHA2-SNAPSHOT?

Yes, that should get you the correct download. It's the just that the
job name hasn't been updated to reflect the major version change.

If you comment out 'cmp' from:

pom.xml
build/build.xml
build/pom.xml

You should be able to build.

Although, for me, it gets stuck now to:
Running org.jboss.as.arquillian.container.managed.IntegrationTestCase

Re: Why can't I build, please help.

Brian Stansberry
Typically if it fails there its because the server won't start cleanly.
You can look in
arquillian/container-managed/target/jbossas/standalone/log to see the logs.
